Title: Associate Business Affairs Manager
Office: Shanghai
Reports to: Global Director of Business Affairs
A global advertising agency seeks a Business Affairs Manager to work in its Shanghai office.
Reporting into the Global Director of Business Affairs based in LA, and supporting the Director of
Client Service and Business Affairs Managers, the Associate Business Affairs Manager will play a
key role in deliverables for the agency’ s client(a popular technology brand) by managing the rights
for communication materials in China and Hong Kong. This individual must be able to
communicate effectively and work well with others to resolve issues while
working closely with the account management, production and media teams. They need to be
motivated, detail oriented, and a self-starter. This person must be flexible and willing to do
“whatever it takes” to get the job done.
Responsibilities:
o China-based business affairs management.
o Function as liaison between agency’ s client, the agency’ s LA office and SH office’ s
legal counsel with respect to ad review, the administration of contract execution and budget
related items.
o Collaborate with agency’ s producers and finance teams on estimates, purchase orders, talent
payments, etc. to ensure we’re abiding by local production guidelines.
o Work with external partners (including gov't regulation bodies, TV stations,
third parties, etc.) to coordinate approvals on all communication materials.
o Work with third party entities to secure consent and clear rights when referencing their assets
(names, images, props, contents, music rights, apps, etc.) based on contractual agreements.
o Draft and negotiate broadcast, print and digital contracts, including license agreements.
o Oversee usage rights for all media and facilitate payment of appropriate talent fees, music
sessions and residuals for any work done in China.
o Assist account team with any clearance and legal correspondence for print and digital related
materials (including potential photo shoots, print assets, digital campaigns, etc).
o Produce agency’ s client ’s communications in a timely, legal and cost-efficient
manner while simultaneously protecting client’ s and company’ s proprietary assets.
o Manage general legal and business practices and standards with agency legal counsel.
o Monitor and ensure compliance with agency’ s client, agency procedures
(particularly all confidentiality processes) and policies with vendors, talent, and third parties.
Requirements:
• College degree required, Business/Marketing concentration preferred.
• 2+ years work experience required, ideally with experience in business affairs, advertising,
marketing, production or legal.
• Exposure to international licensing experience is an asset.
• Understanding of advertising media in China; exposure to other markets.
• Must be able to work on several projects at the same time.
• Must be detailed oriented, resourceful and have problem-solving abilities.
• Sensitivity to different cultures, languages, communication style, business practice.
• Proficient on numbers & keynote or Microsoft equivalents.
• Knowledge and understanding of the brand and how the products work.
• Passionate about high tech products(phones, pads), Advertising, and Media.
• Good English command. Able to communicate effectively both verbally and written with
global teams. |
